Who We Are

League History

Roller derby first arrived in Lakeland in 2009 with the formation of the Lakeland Derby Dames. In 2016, the league was reborn as Swan City Roller Derby and continues to thrive as a skater owned and operated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our mission is to grow the sport of roller derby, develop athletes of all experience levels, and give back to the community we call home. Through local events, charitable initiatives, and competitive play, we are proud to be an active part of Lakeland.

Our league is made up of people from all walks of life, including teachers, nurses, lawyers, mothers, students, and business professionals. What brings us together is a love for roller derby, a competitive spirit, and a commitment to supporting one another both on and off the track.
